We were thrilled to hear that Pantone chose a feminine and delicate color of the year for 2014, Radiant Orchid. Not quite lavender, nor fuchsia- this hue takes some getting used to. Needless to say, we can’t wait to incorporate it into our homes and wardrobes this year!
It can be great in small doses, but we wouldn’t suggest smacking this color on your bedroom wall. Use it sparingly with an accent chair, throw, or maybe even a vase full of fresh cut orchids as your coffee table centerpiece. We’ve also seen celebrities, bloggers, and runway models pull it off over the past few months. Unlike home decor, you can show off this color by making a bold statement when it comes to fashion. Full length dresses are a go, or if you don’t feel like taking the plunge, a hint of purple looks great on a clutch, pair of summer wedges, or pop of lip color.
According to Pantone, Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative, and embracing purple – one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love, and health.
If that doesn’t give you the confidence to try it out, what will!? We encourage everyone to incorporate this color in their lives, whether big or small. Leave us a comment letting us know whether or not you’ve tried out Radiant Orchid shades this year!
